19. COME ONE COME ALL...COME AND JOIN THE IPOH INTERNATIONAL WAITERS RACE...

Ipoh has always been associated with sumptuous food and delicacies. There is the famed Ipoh Taugeh, Ipoh Salt Chicken , Ipoh Biscuits, Ipoh Char Kow Teow and Ipoh Hor Fun. There is the much-talked about Ipoh Hainan Chicken Rice and South Indian famous dishes.

Little wonder famous movie stars from Hong Kong and Hollywood frequented Ipoh just to taste the Ipoh delicacies. It is not unusual to bump into Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh and her family at the Pakeeza Restaurant, the famous Indian/Pakistani restaurant serving beautiful and tasty Indian cookings.

Despite all the elegant cooments about the things relating to food, Ipoh has never before been home to any international food event.

Come 29th June 2013 all this will changed. On that very day, Ipoh and Perak, for the time ever, will play host to Ipoh International Waiters' Race jointly organised by Ipoh City Council, Perak Tourist Association, Malaysian Association of Hotels( Perak Chapter) and International Waiters' Race Agency at the D.R. Seenivasagam Park.

There are lots of activities planned during the event. Dato' Lat, the famous cartoonist hailed from Perak, has sketched a nice caricature to capture the potential excitement of the coming event.

Demonstrations of ice-carving, flower-arranging, food-carving and a barista competition in coffee decoration will be held, along with a mini-treasure hunt, children’s race, parade of Perak school bands, and cheerleader demonstration for younger participants.

Over one hundred waiters and waitresses from Perak’s favourite eateries will be running the 1 ½ kilometer course through the park in three different races.

Visiting participants will be included from Ipoh’s sister city in Japan, Fukuoka, and Ipoh’s “friendship cities” Medan, Pusan, Hangzhou and Guangzhou.

Organizers hope to make this an annual event, celebrating Ipoh’s waiters, waitresses and culinary heritage for locals and tourists alike.

Participants and visitors are most welcome to stay at Syabas Homes facilities. In conjunction with the event, we are offering a 10% discount off the official rates for all our facilities in Ipoh.

  1. As claimed by Stanford Medical, It's really the ONLY reason women in this country live 10 years more and weigh an average of 42 lbs less than us.

(And by the way, it really has NOTHING to do with genetics or some secret exercise and EVERYTHING related to "how" they are eating.)

BTW, I said "HOW", not "what"...
